While travelling the border between China and North Korea, the artist took note of the wire mesh fence running for many hundreds of kilometers alongside the Tumen River and its forests, which act as a natural border between the two countries. There is a huge discrepancy between the vistas on show on each side of the fence, but at the same time a subtle continuity connects them. Despite the strict border controls, plants, animal populations and bodies of water continue to freely traverse the barrier erected between these two modern nation states according to their own organic ways of being. The artist has selected for this film clips that left a particularly strong impression on her, including one scene serendipitously captured when extreme weather conditions interfered with her recording equipment. Unbounded Landscape prompts us to explore the relationship between the explicitness of boundaries and the uncertainty of ecology.
